The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden’s first Monarch Festival will celebrate these most beautiful and beloved pollinators. A fun and educational event for the entire family, the Festival will feature activities, displays, hands-on learning, and a Monarch tag and release.

It will culminate with a Monarch Parade where children of all ages, festooned in pollinator costumes, will “migrate” from Canada and the Northern United States to the Mexican forest where Monarchs overwinter.  All kids will be given an origami Monarch to sign and affix to trees in the forest. The Festival will be open to all Zoo visitors.

Purchase these fun butterfly wings at the Zoo’s gift shop!

Booths and activities can be found from World of the Insect to the main entrance, including Swan Lake Bridge.  Children are encouraged to wear their favorite pollinator costumes and accessories for the parade!

The Festival will shed light on the Zoo’s leadership and commitment to pollinator conservation in the region and all aspects of the Zoo’s Pollen Nation program.
