This is a little bit off garden club topic but a great way to shake of the winter blues, get some exercise and walk around our beloved Newport Neighbourhood with its rich and at times infamous history, that we all love (well I do anyway)...

Newport gave birth to the modern-day gaming industry. And "If you are a fan of The Godfather, Goodfellas, Scarface, The Sopranos, The Untouchables, then this is the tour for you!

Step back in time to Newport’s notorious “Sin City” era — where mobsters, bootleggers, and gamblers ruled the streets. You’ll visit the city’s most infamous hotspots and learn how Newport earned its title as “the Sin City of the South.”

At each stop, you’ll have a chance to snap some photos while your expert guide shares insider stories about organized crime, illegal gambling, and the larger‑than‑life characters who shaped the city’s past."

We will meet at Mansion Hill Tavern.

The tour starts sharply at 6:15pm. It lasts two hours.

Please arrive 5 or 10 minutes early.

Wear comfortable shoes.
