Speaker: Kelsey Pearman, “Garden Under Glass: Terrarium Workshop”
You’ll get your hands dirty this month — but only if you want. We’re offering a hands-on terrarium-making workshop with our speaker, Kelsey Pearman. You have three choices: You can simply watch her demonstration. Or build your own simple glass terrarium. Or create a “living lamp,” a decorative table lamp with an ecosystem for tiny plants inside (shade not included). A terrarium kit is $25, and the lamp kit is an additional $15. If you want to participate, the deadline is 10 am Friday, January 13. You’ll be able to order a kit at the link below. Follow the prompts. The site will ask for a credit card, name, email, and address. (Your address is required so that the purchase will go through with shipping, but of course, there will be no shipping. Kelsey will bring all your materials to the meeting.) She also accepts Venmo or a check the evening of her presentation. Kelsey’s email is kelseyrpearman@gmail.com.

Kelsey is an environmental compliance specialist with the Hamilton
County Department of Environmental Services. She earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in biology/biological sciences with an emphasis on conservation and ecology. She’s worked on a variety of projects from the impact of salt marsh salinity on whooping crane behavior to foraging and roosting behaviors of endangered bats. To Kelsey, terrariums are irresistible, so she turned her “problem” hobby of “glassware hoarding and terrarium-making” into Niche Terrariums in early 2021.
NOTE: If you're making a terrarium, please bring a tablecloth or tarp to cover your work area.
