Date: April 19: FIELD TRIP TO Clara Berger’s Garden in Anderson Township

You’re in for a beautiful treat this month as we visit Clara Berger’s incredibly charming, romantic garden in Anderson Township. The well-established one-acre garden is nestled on three sides of the home she and her late husband, Charlie, built in 1962. What originated as a concrete pad with a retaining wall has evolved through the decades into eight to 10 dense — and enchanted — beds lush with evergreens, hollies and small specimen trees and shrubs along with hundreds of bulbs. climbers and perennials. In the local garden community, Clara is well known for her horticultural expertise and skills. She's also everybody's grandmother and loves to share her philosophy on gardening. Clara’s home and garden are at 7415 State Road (around a curve from the Anderson Branch Library.) Parking is in the large lot across the street at El Coyote restaurant. The street is busy so be careful crossing it!
