September 19: Honeybees: A Social Family
Speaker: Granville Griffith
Granville Griffith will go to any extreme to rescue and save honeybees. To 78-year-old Granville, a well-known local bee preservationist, bees are the lifeblood of our world, pollinating crops that produce much of the food that feeds our population and sustaining the planet’s ecosystems. In addition to their importance, these tiny insects are simply captivating. Skeptical? You won’t be when you listen to Granville, a lifelong beekeeper with the most charming personality, tell amazing stories, share his secrets for keeping bees, and promote bees as pollinators. Currently, Granville cares for two dozen hives, teaches classes, and mentors young students in the skills of beekeeping. He’s served as president (and other officer positions) of both the Northern Kentucky Beekeepers and Kentucky State Beekeepers Association.
